The counselor referred to the commitments that the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, made in September to shorten the waiting time in Osakidetza.
Health Minister Gotzone Sagardui pointed out on Friday that the targets to reduce waiting lists in Osakidetza “have been achieved in four months”.
The counselor thus referred to the commitments made by the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, in September, during the General Policy Debate, to shorten the waiting time.
One of the results, as Sagardui highlighted, is the reduction of waiting days for surgical procedures to 65 days. Moreover, in primary care, the goal was to reduce the average waiting time of 48 hours and increase attendance, which has also been achieved, as the counselor emphasized on Friday during the plenary session of the Basque Parliament.
In September, Urkullu acknowledged the shortage of health workers and long waiting lists. That’s why he pledged to reduce delays in Osakidetza in the next six months, in addition to investing 1.2 billion over the next eight years.
In this sense, Sagardui congratulated themselves for having managed to reduce the waiting time by four months instead of the six planned by the Lehendakari.
