Several Basque personalities have signed a document in support of the people condemned by the summary 13/13 and have held separate demonstrations in Bilbao and San Sebastian for the next April 9 denounce the ruling as an “obstacle to a democratic solution”.

The National Court has sentenced four of the seven lawyers prosecuted in the summary to a total of 18 years in prison for the offense of integration into a terrorist organization. Arantxa Zulueta has been sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison, while Jon Enparantza has been sentenced to 4 years; Naia Zurriarain was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months and Iker Sarriegi to 3 years and one day.
According to him, the sentence has a double purpose: “to increase the suffering of the courts, relatives and friends” and “to hinder a democratic solution for Euskal Herria”.
As they have denounced, the 13/13 macro process “means that long chain of cruelty” and the judgment itself constitutes “a injustice because it was taken as a result of a process full of irregularities and violations of rights and with very few legal guarantees”.
The statement’s signatories have criticized “actions based on” the ‘principle of all ETA’in a context where “our people were on the road to a democratic solution”.
In his opinion, the sentence constitutes “a collective punishment based on past strategies, attitudes and behavior contrary to what Basque society intends” and “a punishment for democracy, peace and the future of our country”.
For all these reasons they have called for the following April 9 two demonstrations On Bilbao (5:30 PM, from Plaza del Sagrado Corazón) and Saint Sebastian (at the same time, from Sagüés) “for the future of our people and against the ruling.”
