A judge releases two people detained in Navarre for glorifying terrorism

National Court Judge Joaquín Gadea imposed an obligation on them to appear periodically before a court, although the Public Prosecutor’s Office had not requested any measures. The detainees are being investigated following a UPN complaint.

The judge of the National Court Joaquin Gadea this Wednesday released two people arrested in Navarre investigated for a crime of exaltation and humiliation to the victims for various messages published on social networks.

Legal sources have told EFE that the magistrate has imposed an obligation on both arrested women to appear in court periodically after an appearance in which The Public Prosecution Service has not requested any measures.

The detainees, who abused their right not to testify, are being investigated following a complaint by the Navarro People’s Union after the detection of several messages on social networks in support of the terrorist organization ETA, resolved since 2018as the sources explain.

The magistrate investigates whether they could have committed a crime of exaltation or humiliation of the victims.

One of those arrested, according to the newspaper Noticias de Navarra, is a 63-year-old resident of the Navarrese town of Iturmendi, married to an ETA prisoner who died in 2016.
