– Last control session: The Basque parliament may hold the last government scrutiny session of this term. The opposition will ask the government questions about, among other things, the balance in the legislature, sovereignty or the education system. –Trial for the Altza crime: The trial by a popular jury for the death of a 50-year-old man on June 26, 2021 after he suffered a beating in a hut in the Altza district, in San Sebastián, starts this Friday at the Provincial Court of Gipuzkoa. It is expected that on the first day the jury will convene and the parties will present their accusations, while the suspect’s statement is scheduled for Monday.
–Closing of the campaign in Galicia: Today the election campaign ends in Galicia, which goes to the polls on Sunday, February 18. An appointment that will be decided by the president who will rule the Xunta for the next four years. Alfonso Rueda (PP), Ana Pontón (BNG), José Ramón Gómez Besteiro (PSOE) and Marta Lois (Sumar) are the main candidates competing for the 75 seats in Galicia’s parliament. The PP could be on the verge of losing its absolute majority.
