Red Bull legacy in pictures – debate about red envy: Babler visits Mateschitz-Land

Date:

The SPÖ’s verbal attacks against the Mateschitz family have caused quite a stir in domestic politics. In any case, the debate about red envy in Styria is anything but well received.

Andreas Babler made the start. The SPÖ party leader focused on Red Bull’s heirs. “If Mark Mateschitz had paid estate taxes, it could have brought the state several billions,” said Babler. He added that after paying inheritance tax, Mateschitz “would still be the second richest Austrian”.

Soon after, SPÖ Vice-President Julia Herr resigned, emphasizing that “Mark Mateschitz could abolish child poverty in Austria with his five-year legacy”.

Julia Herr criticized the Swarovski-Mateschitz dream trip
And when Mark Mateschitz holidayed with his girlfriend Victoria Swarovski on a yacht off the coast of a Greek island two weeks ago, the gentleman criticized the climate-damaging consequences of the birthday trip. She sent a message to Mateschitz and Swarovski on social media: “Not insulting and happy birthday, but because of the millionaire’s tax war.”

Baber visiting Styria
Now Babeler visited Styria. The state in which Dietrich Mateschitz, who died last year, invested a lot of money and created many jobs. The SPÖ leadership’s attacks on the Mateschitz family are not only badly received by the ÖVP (Governor Christopher Drexler commented on this in the “Krone”).

SPÖ Steiermark thanks Mateschitz
The Styrian Social Democrats also recognize the achievements of the Red Bull founder. “In Styria, we will always be grateful to Dietrich Mateschitz for his services,” Styrian SPÖ chairman and deputy governor Anton Lang told the “Krone”.

The governor of Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil, also finds the jealousy debate about Mateschitz of the SPÖ “superfluous”.

Babler as a conductor in Altaussee
Together with Babler, Lang visited the Altausseer Kirtag, which, with around 20,000 visitors annually, is one of the largest Kirtag in Austria. There Babeler was invited to conduct a serenade. He did this in an Ausseer Furchenleibl that he had previously received as a gift.
