Navarra’s 137 municipalities and 35 entities that have not had electronic services since they suffered a cyberattack two weeks ago will return to normal this week, according to the public company Animsa.
On May 18, two ransomware attacks launched from a server in Lithuania (Hive and Cobalt Strike) left several councils in the provincial community without an email, electronic headquarters or website. The crackers have encrypted the computer system and demanded ransom in cryptocurrencies.
Since then, these municipalities and entities have only carried out their procedures on paper.
The government of Navarra faces approximately 600,000 cyber attacks every year. Normally, all of them are rejected, but if not, the system restore process is not easy or immediate.
