And the slogan “from the river to the sea” is a call for the destruction of Israel.”
But anti-Semitic hate videos are also circulating among children and young people in Austria. Seen videos on TikTok of us celebrating each other. “These videos mutually encourage violence. The parents of the children are also called on to put a stop to this.” The crux of this, according to Spera, is often a lack of historical education among young people and adults. Because many people don’t even know how the state of Israel came into being.
The issue of anti-Semitism worsened in Austria after the Hamas attack on Israel. On October 7, not only Hamas fighters went through the hole in the border fence, but also civilians. Together they committed the mass murder of the Israelis. But anti-Semitism is increasing not only in this country, where young people repeatedly have outbursts of anger after seeing the hate videos, but also internationally.
According to Danielle Spera, it would be more appropriate, instead of outbursts of anger, to be grateful that we can live peacefully here in Austria.
