Large press return in the town hall of Vienna. The Rot-Pink City instruction has presented its program over the next five years. Conclusion: Much is outlined, and some of the most important topics are (unfortunately) still unclear.
Rising unemployment, minimal security, extremely tight budget position, students who do not speak enough German, health care that has already experienced better times: the city council must crack a number of hard chunks in the coming period. On Tuesday, Mayor Michael Ludwig (Spö) and Vice -Mayor Emmerling (Neos) presented their projects for the government period.
The “Hot Iron” mentioned above were explained and sketched roughly, but the top politicians remained reserved for the details. There is still a matter of negotiation, it is said. So far so far has been known:
- Vienna should “The economic engine of Austria” Ludwig emphasized. The coalition is based on investments in future industries such as life sciences, green jobs and digital technologies. Emmerling: “In the era of artificial intelligence, this is a critical infrastructure – and a great opportunity for Vienna.” In addition to large -scale projects, the Focus is also on the local economy: the Viennese Grätzel is intended to enliven new digital vacancy databases and to protect intramural trade against “online retailers from Asia”.
- The city wants to remain educational capital and put it Land -alle -day -schoolsThe expansion of kindergarten and targeted language support. For this purpose, the obligation to visit children with language support in the compulsory kindergarten year is extended from 20 to 30 hours. Goal: to reduce the number of extraordinary students. Ememmerling’s city councilor did not want to commit himself to a specific number.
- Also one Training offensive For special precarious industries, follows. “We not only invest in buildings, but also in people,” explains Ludwig. Especially in nursing, pedagogy and in the IT area, qualification measures such as the Viennese training surcharge must be further expanded.
- Central points are also integration and social benefits. The Minimal security – especially for families with several children – is put to the test. Specifically: “We want to evaluate the accuracy of the benefits in the minimum safety of the Vienna and perform a corresponding reform.” In addition, an integration code must be worked out. The Heart: “The developments of recent years have shown that integration must also be requested. Financing offers no longer have to remain optional.”
- Vienna remains social housing. 1500 new community apartments are being built, the Housing Edition has been revised and reasonably designed.
However, all considerations are overshadowed by Sword of Damocles from the Budgets. The line is clear: Vienna must consolidate finance – but with a sense of relationship. Financing must be investigated, new expenses with counter financing must be protected. However, it is unclear in which order.
The budget negotiations only start when the government will be praised this Tuesday. Then each single department must announce its savings options. The goal is around 500 million euros in the coming year. Ludwig: “I am convinced that we have put together a package in the near future.”
