Punch and Judy of the week – Dominik Wlazny: A beer for political frustration!

Date:

Maybe Dominik Wlazny was just the musician who got away with it: just as pop hits have been getting shorter for years, it quickly became quiet after the launch of his beer party (election campaign).

TV appearances? No interest. Interviews? An imposition. This means that ten percent of Viennese who two years ago believed that Wlazny would be the federal president are now only two percent who wanted to see him in parliament – and eight percent who have further buried their hopes for a new political offer. disappointed.

Perhaps Wlazny’s secret plan was simply to increase political frustration in Austria. After all, punk – as the music style of Wlazny’s alter ego Marco Pogo – is seen as a means of expression for those who do not feel heard. So his campaign tactics would at least make sense: more political frustration creates more audiences for punk, i.e. its concerts.

And if no one comes: even two percent of the voters was enough for more than 300,000 euros in reimbursement of campaign costs, which should still be enough given his economical campaign. Anyone who plays with the hopes of voters instead of an audience is our puppet of the week after the election.
