One person was killed and 10 others were injured on Sunday, October 6, in a shooting at the central bus station in Beer Sheva, southern Israel, according to spokespeople for the Israel Police and the Israeli Emergency Service, Magen David Adom. (MDA). The attacker was shot dead according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 2:27 PM (1:27 PM Peninsula time). Apparently this is an “alleged terrorist attack” as they refer to attacks committed by Palestinians, usually against Israeli soldiers.
The fatal victim is an Israeli police officer, about 25 years old, according to Channel 12, and the other injured were taken to the city’s Soroka Hospital. In addition, another woman in her 20s is in moderate to serious condition with gunshot wounds, four young people are in moderate condition with gunshot wounds and five are in mild condition “with shrapnel and other injuries.”
So far this year, more than 20 Israelis have been killed in attacks that police classify as “terrorist,” carried out mainly by Palestinians or Israeli Arabs.
