The Senate unanimously approves a commission of inquiry into the Koldo case

Date:

The committee will be limited to government contracts during the pandemic in which the former advisor to the Ministry of Transport mediated and other matters that could arise from the police operation.

The Senate, with the votes of the 259 people who make up the Senate, unanimously approved the creation of a investigation committee in the Koldo case. The PP proposal has received support from all groups.

The commission will adhere to government orders during the pandemic in which it mediated Koldo García Izaguirre, former advisor to the Ministry of Transport. You can also count on other possible cases of corruption, as long as they stem from the Delorme operation.

This commission will work “until the last consequences, no matter who falls and no matter what happens,” as Luis Santamaría, PP senator, has warned.

The PSOE and its parliamentary partners have called for an expansion of investigations into all government contracts for healthcare facilities during the pandemic, shaming the PP for its past corruption cases.

In the debate in the plenary session of the Senate, several spokespersons, sometimes angrily, accused the PP of wanting to use the investigation politically to attack the government, while the popular parties have refused to form “a tailor-made committee” for the investigation. PSOE and have reiterated that the Koldo case “must be independently investigated”.

The PP has not revealed who it will call to appear on the committee, but they are not ruling out “anyone,” it said Alicia Garcia. The spokesperson identified several members of the executive branch as responsible, such as the First Vice President and the Secretary of the Treasury, Mary Jesus Montero; the head of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; and that of Transport, Oscar Puente.

President, Pedro Sanchez, who according to the PP is ultimately responsible for the plot, could be cited. “Are you going to answer me or are you going to reserve it for the investigative committee?” García asked Sánchez.

There is also the possibility of convening the President of Congress, Francina Armengol, for the health equipment contracts of the Balearic Government when she was President. He has indicated that “he has no problem showing up” if congressional legal services support him.
