The disagreements that motivated the call arose in view of the April 21 elections, which Podemos is heading to together with Alianza Verde within the Elkarrekin Podemos Alianza Verde coalition, and the returning parties within Sumar.
The Central Electoral Council has rejected the appeal of Ezker Anitza-IU and Berdeak Equo and endorsed the name with which the coalition is registered Elkarrekin Podemos Green Alliance to the Basque elections of 21 April, as it believes that this will not lead to confusion.
She thus ratifies the agreement previously issued by the electoral council of the Basque Autonomous Community, against which Ezker Anitza-IU and Berdeak Equo have also appealed.
Ezker Anitza-IU attended the previous Basque elections together with Podemos in the Elkarrekin Podemos-IU coalition. In the regional and municipal elections in Euskadi they were joined by Berdeak Equo and Alianza Verde and the coalition was called Elkarrekin Podemos Ezker Anitza-IU Berdeak Equo Alianza Verde.
The disagreements that gave rise to the appeal arose in light of the April 21 electionswhere Podemos is going with Alianza Verde within the Elkarrekin Podemos Alianza Verde coalition, and the returning parties within Sumar.
The two groups that submitted the call claim that the coalition in which they participated with Podemos in various electoral events in Euskadi since 2016 is guided by the term ‘Elkarrekin’ (together), and therefore they believe that this represents a ‘clear implementation in political life in Euskadi” and believe its use only by Podemos “creates confusion”.
