As expected, NEOS boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger is running as the Pink Party’s top candidate for the National Council elections.
“I am ready to lead NEOS as a top candidate in the next government,” Meinl-Reisinger said in a video distributed on social media on Saturday. The NEOS have a three-stage process to compile their list of candidates.
General meeting on April 20
For the National Council electoral list, the Pinks will hold public primaries from April 4 to 13, then the extended board will meet and finally a general meeting will take place in Graz on April 20.
“I’m ready”
Basic confidence in a good future has recently been tested, Meinl-Reisinger referred in the video to crises, wars, the pandemic, cases of corruption and inflation. The other parties spent their energy “mainly on fighting each other instead of finding positive solutions for the people,” she complained.
“We NEOS are ready, and I am ready,” she said, “we are the guarantee that the next administration will show the energy to improve people’s lives.”
In the last National Council elections in 2019, NEOS obtained 8.1 percent of the votes or 15 mandates. This time the Pinks are hoping for around ten percent or twenty mandates.
