The Russian president assured in a public appearance that all perpetrators of Friday’s attack had been arrested and asked other countries for cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putinappeared for the first time this Saturday after last Friday’s attack in the event pavilion Moscow Crocus City Hall to confirm that the four material authors of the massacre that left at least 143 dead and more than 100 injured have been arrested.
Putin, in a video on the Kremlin’s website, denounced this “terrorist, bloody and barbaric act” and praised the work of the security forces as well as rescue services and the civilian population who helped the survivors.
The President of Russia has announced that next Sunday, March 24, will be a day of national mourning as he announces “additional anti-terrorist and anti-sabotage measures.”
“All authors, organizers and those who ordered this crime They will receive a well-deserved and unavoidable punishmentwhoever they are and whoever sent them,” Putin said in a televised address
“To the terrorists, murderers and beasts, who have and cannot have a nationality, A disastrous fate awaits them: revenge and oblivion.. They have no future,” he emphasized.
He recalled that the Russians know firsthand what the terrorist threat is, in apparent reference to the attacks carried out years ago by Islamist guerrillas in the Caucasus.
“We look forward to cooperation with all countries that sincerely share our pain and are willing in practice to join forces in the fight against the common enemy, international terrorism in all its manifestations,” he said.
Although the jihadist organization Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, the president did not mention the group in his speech.
Instead, he limited himself to indicating, as previously reported by the Federal Security Service, that those suspected of material responsibility for the massacre were detained on their way to the Ukrainian border where, according to the President, “they obtained an entry ticket had prepared” on the Ukrainian side to cross”.
