Iñigo Urkullu underlines the way out of the economic crisis in the face of the catastrophic right of PP+Cs and Vox

Date:

For the lehendakari, the CAV occupies “leading positions” in economic affairs, while PP+Cs ensure that the Basque government “puts businessmen and freelancers in the spotlight” and Vox criticizes that Euskadi has “lost influence”.

the lehendakari, Inigo Urkulluhas emphasized that, despite the “catastrophic” and “partisan distortion” of formations such as PP+Cs and Vox, “the recovery and the exit from the crisis is a fact” in the Basque Country, on which he has emphasized that it occupies “leading positions in things like per capita income, investment in health or research, financial solvency and social protection.

Urkullu responded on Friday, during the plenary session of the Basque Parliament, to two questions from PP+Cs and Vox about the economic situation in the Basque Country.

The spokesperson for the PP+Cs group, Carlos Iturgaizhas stated that reports such as those prepared by the Zedarriak Forum “confirm that the Basque Country no longer takes leading positions” in economic matters.

He has also accused the Lehendakari of putting businessmen and the self-employed “in the spotlight”, and has criticized him for rejecting his demands to cut taxes.

The Lehendakari replied to Iturgaiz that during his regular meetings with businessmen, they made clear to him the importance of cooperation “with all” in order to cope with “the enormous disruptions” currently affecting the economy and society as a whole.

In this way he favored cooperation to generate and distribute wealth, to “fight inequality”, a position which – as he has indicated – is the same that businessmen transfer to him.

Moreover, after accusing Iturgaiz of accusing him of putting businessmen “in the spotlight” without putting forward any argument to make such accusations against him, he stated that despite the “uncertainty and concern” in Euskadi, “the recovery and the way out of the crisis is a fact”.

For its part, the parliamentarian of the Joint Vox Group, Amaia Martinezhas denounced that reports such as Zedarriak’s indicate that the Basque Country has “lost influence in Spain as a whole”, and has therefore asked Urkullu to take measures to reverse this situation.

In his reply, de Lehendakari underlined that Zedarriak “appreciates the efforts of the Basque Country in difficult years”, and that he includes in his conclusions a reference to the fact that “The Basque Country stands out compared to the environment” issues such as level of prosperity, social inclusion, living conditions, resilience or public-private partnership.
