Cristina Ibarrola and Alejandro Toquero announce an agreement to jointly lead UPN

Date:

The UPN spokesperson in Pamplona and the former mayor of the city and the mayor of Tudela have announced an agreement to jointly strive to lead the regionalist formation, starting at the next congress which will take place on April 28.

The UPN spokesperson in Pamplona and former mayor of the city, Cristina Ibarrola, and the mayor of Tudela, Alejandro Toquero, announced this Wednesday an agreement to jointly strive to lead the regionalist formation, starting at the next congress that will take place on April 28.

Ibarrola was the only UPN affiliate to date to have taken the step of announcing its intention to succeed Javier Esparza as leader of the party, in an announcement it made in February in which it publicly reached out to Toquero as vice president. .

Exactly, the agreement stipulates that Cristina Ibarrola will run for the regionalist presidency Alejandro Toquero of vice president, Cristina Sotamayor of Tafalla between 2007 and 2015, as general secretary, and Mario Fabomayor of Marcilla since 2015, as secretary of the organization.

Ibarrola, who appeared before the media alongside Toquero for the UPN headquarters in Pamplonahas assured that “Navarre must once again be the reference that it has been for many years in all areas: in health, in employment, in taxation, in competitiveness…”.

“We are absolutely convinced that not only is UPN still the most voted power, but that it is the best alternative for the citizens to get back the government of Navarre, to get back and keep all the municipal councils of this country ” he claimed.

For his part, Toquero pointed out that “we have carried out an exercise of responsibility and cohesion, of uniting the great family of UPN, with the different sensitivities” and has advocated “improving everything that the municipal power of UPN means, the power of the municipal policy of our mayors”.

When Ibarrola announced it in February who would run for president of the regionalist formation, she herself ran for mayor of Pamplona in order to regain the power stick that the motion of censure on December 28 had taken from her.

So the question remained as to who would send the UPN list to the parliament of Navarre to try to regain the presidency of the Foral community, and it was then that all eyes turned to Toquero.

However, the first mayor of Tudela did not want to clarify when the press asked him whether he would choose to lead the candidacy: “I am mayor of Tudela, of the second city of Navarre, which is an honor for me. I’m engaged. a year ago with the citizens to defend and work there until 2027 the interests of my city.”

When asked about this, Toquero apologized saying that “the candidate for the UPN government in 2027 will be determined by the UPN members and we will all look for the best possible candidate. Right now he’s asking me what I’m going to do in three years, and “I don’t even know what I’m going to do next week.”
