In his role as Minister of the Interior, current FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl stood in the way of replacing the director of the Lower Austrian State Police with Franz Popp. After Kickl had to leave his post, partly due to political pressure from the ÖVP Lower Austria, Popp got the job. Now the SPÖ is focusing on the state police – and is also investigating the filling of a second position. A separate U-committee could even be set up.
Chats, chats, chats – in connection with the commission of inquiry into the “red-blue abuse of power” messages between the old FPÖ boss and the new FPÖ boss, i.e. Heinz-Christian Strache and Herbert Kickl, became known. At the time, they talked about Johanna Mikl-Leitner’s demand, which had been implemented after Kickl’s time at the Ministry of the Interior, to appoint Franz Popp as the new director of the state police for Lower Austria. Popp is considered qualified and popular. However, his application had a ‘catch’.
