“Good old Schillig”, “Count on Schilling”, “Schilling for Europe” – the Greens start the EU pre-election campaign with these three slogans. There are games with the name of top candidate Lena Schilling. After the accident with gaps in knowledge about the fact that Norway is not a member of the EU, the Greens are now trying to provoke insults.
The start of the election campaign was bumpy for the young Viennese. Schilling embarrassed herself at the Green Party conference in Graz in late February, where she was named top candidate, by not knowing that Norway was not sympathetic to the EU.
When asked a similar question on the ORF satire program “Good Night Austria,” she said: “For God’s sake. Now it’s getting embarrassing.’ She later apologized and explained her response as nervous. ‘My head was completely empty.’ ‘Of course’ she would normally have known that Norway was not a member of the EU.
Young people are motivated to “participate”.
Now the Greens are starting their first series of posters with an emphasis on humor. Schilling advertises with the ‘good old Schilling’, but the campaign is mainly aimed at young people. They are entitled ‘Hey you! Join.” called upon to participate.
You can register for a meeting with Lena, where you can get to know her and talk about common ideas for Europe. The first will take place on April 17 in Vienna. You can join the Green Party team and help with the election campaign, or you can simply subscribe to the classic newsletter.
Schilling focuses thematically on green classics
“I am very happy with the many messages from people who want to help. The elections are about our shared future. We fight for the climate and against the shift to the right. “We can really use every helping hand,” Schillig said in an interview with the “Krone”.
