The PNV candidate for lehendakari was sprayed in the face and had to be taken to Cruces Hospital for treatment. The aggressor has been arrested.
The candidate for lehendakari of the PNV, Imanol Pradaleswas attacked after taking part in a rally in Barakaldo when he was attacked by a 49-year-old man, who sprayed him in the face.
The Jeltzale candidate, whose vision is affected in one eye and part of his face, was initially transferred to Cruces Hospital, although he has already been discharged and will be able to participate in the EITB debate.
More specifically, Pradales was attacked at the end of the rally he held in the town of Barakaldo in Biscay, and as he was on his way to the EITB headquarters to participate in the election debate with the rest of the Lehendakaritza candidates.
As the president of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, explained at the meeting: Pradales “left to prepare for the ETB debate, someone approached him and sprayed him with pepper spray and they had to take him to Cruces to clean his eyes to make.”
“We don’t know what it is, but in any case I think that this kind of behavior, these kinds of events, should prompt us as a society to think about whether this is stretching everything we experience, of tension, of creating of division, creating tension is the way for a society like the Basque. Of course, in the opinion of the PNV, no, that is not our way,” he stated.
