Four years ago, the elections were held in mid-July, in the middle of the Covid pandemic, causing postal voting to skyrocket, with 117,411 voters choosing.
A total of 54,559 people have already voted by mail in the elections for the Basque parliament this Sunday, which is 52.8% less than the total number of votes allowed in previous elections.
The elections took place four years ago mid July and in the midst of the Covid pandemic, mail-in voting skyrocketed, electing 117,411 voters.
The figure now reached is 14% more than the number of votes registered during the 2016 election process, which was held in September. That occasion also had a peculiarity, as almost the entire procedure took place in August, a month’s holiday for many people.
These 54,559 votes are the 94.51% of applications submitted, a percentage comparable to that of previous elections.
Of the total, 30,034 have since been processed Bizkaia16,961 from Gipuzkoa and 7564 from a municipality of Alava.
The citizens had to do something deadline until next Thursday to present their ballot paper at any post office, which will deploy a special machine with more than 200 professionals next Sunday.
