Iñigo Urkullu participated in the opening of the 17th International Victimology Symposium, which will take place in San Sebastián with the participation of experts from more than 50 countries.

The lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has revealed that the Basque government is working on a Restorative justice strategywhich aims to “generate a new culture for conflict resolution, which focuses on: Comprehensive recovery of victimsthat helps to repair and heal the damage and that also contributes to the transformation of the perpetrator”.
Urkullu, who participated in the opening ceremony 17th International Victimology Symposium, has stressed that the executive is calling for victims to be placed “at the center, all victims”. As he emphasized, “There are no first-class and second-class victims; they have all suffered unfair harm. Their right to truth, justice, reparation and the guarantee of non-recurrence is an institutional and social duty.”
The 17th International Victimology Symposium will be held from Monday to Thursday in San Sebastian under the title “Victimization in a Digital World: Responding to and Connecting with Victims”.
