The republican formation has called on “the formations that challenged the government” to propose an alternative.
The ERC’s National Executive will decide in the coming weeks what steps the party should take following the results of the elections for the Parliament of Catalonia, in which they went from 33 seats obtained in the 2021 elections to 20.
In a statement on Tuesday, the republican body also concluded that, as acting President of the Generalitat and candidate for re-election, Pere Aragonès, declared after learning the results, the ERC will be in opposition and “has called on the formations which disputes to the government” to propose an alternative.
He also thanked Aragonès and his government, now in power, for their work and dedication, which he said has “achieved great milestones, put an end to repression and implemented groundbreaking social and egalitarian policies.”
