Bermeo, Mundaka, Muxika, Ajangiz, Ea and other towns in Biscay have approved a motion by the citizens’ initiative Gernika-Palestine, showing solidarity with Palestine and calling for an economic boycott of Israel.

The municipalities of Bermeo, Mundaka, Muxika, Ajangiz, Ea and other towns in Biscay have committed not to employ people of Israeli descent.

They agreed on this after the approval of a motion by the citizens’ initiative Gernika-Palestine, showing solidarity with Palestine and calling for an economic boycott of Israel.

The citizens’ initiative Gernika-Palestine organizes rallies and other activities in several Basque municipalities to express its solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand that Israel stop the attacks.

The mayor of Bermeo, Nadia Nemeh Shomaly, wondered on Friday why the PNV councilors rejected this motion in Bermeo, while they had agreed in other locations.
