The acting Basque government’s spokesman, Bingen Zupiria, said that “it was the last, but not the shortest”. Moreover, Zupiria has acknowledged that it was a “different” meeting.
The final governing council of the legislature and the executive, chaired by the lehendakari, Inigo Urkulluhas received mutual recognition from the two partners for the work done and the willingness to reach an agreement during these years, but without entering into ‘personal issues’ about the future of its members.
This is how the acting Executive’s spokesperson described it: Bingen Zupiriaafter the Council, which, as he said, “because it was the last, was not the shortest, with 55 different agreements.”
Among them, the Basque government has agreed to allocate 6.3 million euros to improve the situation operation and organization of the Ertzaintza and the working conditions of certain groups of the Ertzaintza, such as officers between 55 and 60 years old and those belonging to the Criminal Investigation Unit. Moreover, it approved the decree that the professional glass eel fishing in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV), with restrictions, to ensure the sustainable exploitation of the species.
Zupiria explained that this was also the case a ‘different’ meetingas the Lehendakari, as the councilors presented their topics, reminded them that these were the last ones they would present.
At the end there were words of thanks from the Lehendakari and the socialist advisor Iñaki Arriola for the willingness for agreement and dialogue between all departments.
“I dare to confirm that there have been many cases where a very important effort has been made by all councilors to reach an agreement and avoid a sense of anger or disagreement. There have been a number of issues where there has been talk of differencesbut believe me, they are the small minority of those raised,” Zupiria.pol summarized
For ease the transitionAll departments have identified the aspects of their management that are not yet completed and that need to be completed throughout the year. They transferred this information to the Lehendakaritza, who will pass it on to the new government.
When asked about Lehendakari’s plans, the spokesperson simply recalled that in today’s Council “there was an agenda, and there was no room for personal issues.”
