The group of independents from the municipality of Alava has left the local government, but wants to continue to contribute ‘without losing our own identity’.
Omniaa group of independents who until now, together with EH Bildu, were part of the municipal government of Llodio (Álava), has explained that from now on they will be a active oppositionreaching agreement on “each issue with the government team individually”.
In a statement, they defended the work they did with the coalition during their year in government, saying they felt “completely satisfied.” However, “the government models of both groups are different. The fact that there is no full consensus on how to implement and manage is a problem for the council and out of responsibility we have taken the decision to move away from direct management,” they explained.
Despite the breakup, the group continued to exist has reached an agreement with EH Bildu “with the aim of carrying out active opposition work and continuing to make progress with them on the issues already agreed and implemented.”
“It is Omnia’s will to contribute without losing our own identity. We cannot make non-consensual political decisions about which we have different opinions. Therefore, from the opposition, we will now agree on every issue with the government team separately, leaving our political imprint on all municipal issues,” they have described.
