Whether on the festival council, at S-Link or at Salzburg AG: After the change of mayor of the city, State Governor Wilfried Haslauer will have a new counterpart for all questions affecting the city and the country. Things will probably not get any easier for the ÖVP boss. “It was an excellent collaboration with Harry Preuner,” Haslauer told “Krone”. Now it remains to be seen who will be the next mayor. “I have also worked well with Heinz Schaden,” says Schaden and does not expect any problems with the new city boss. “It is in both our interests that it works.”
Haslauer is satisfied with the result on the land
Haslauer is not in a worried mood, even though he says: “The result in the city is disappointing.” He has consolation for election loser Florian Kreibich: “It often happens that you do not win the first time you participate. I know what I’m talking about.” Haslauer is referring to his first state elections in 2009, when the ÖVP also suffered a – considerably smaller – loss.
If Haslauer gets his way, Kreibich will have to rebuild the city party and enter the city council. The failed mayoral candidate has already indicated that he is willing to do so. Haslauer is pleased with the results in rural communities. “If you have 99 mayors, the chance of losing some is greater than gaining some,” the state governor said of the losses. However, the success of several independent lists shows that traditional party loyalty is declining, Haslauer believes.
