Two homeless people who normally spend the night on Mallorca Airport, stolen a sailing yacht and came to the open sea in need. The two were visibly relieved in their help – although they were arrested afterwards.
The two 53 and 59 -year -old Spaniards had set up the twelve -meter sailboat in the port of San Antonio de la Playa in Can Pastilla near the Ballermann on Easter Sunday and held to sail, the police said. The boat was a Janneau Sun Odyssey 40, as the “Mallorca Magazin” reports. This hunting type has a length of 12.2 meters.
After the boat was registered as stolen, the police started looking. On Monday the boat thieves were 25 kilometers south near Cabrera, a small neighboring island of Mallorca. However, they had lost their orientation and made an emergency call, as Island Media reported. The two thieves were very relieved when they were eventually rescued and arrested by the water protection police.
Large housing shortage in Mallorca
In the beginning it was not known whether the two “seafarers” were only looking for an adventure or a new place to stay. Due to the high rental prices, the illegal holiday rental and a lack of offers, the housing shortage on the holiday island is large. Some therefore spend the night in the entrance to the airport, although the operator continues to sell homeless people there.
