ORF interview – Edtstadler attacks Gewessler, argues with Wolf

Date:

Since the adoption of the EU Renaturation Law, not a day has passed without new attacks by the coalition partner on the Minister of Green Climate Protection, Leonore Gewessler. Constitutional Minister Karoline Edtstadler highlights the particularly heavy artillery. On Monday evening she did a lot of ORF.

“For me as Minister of the Constitution, it is quite difficult for me to accept that a minister who is sworn to the Federal Constitution ignores the Constitution, ignores a declaration from the Federal State and, contrary to the wish or the fact that the It has been submitted to the council that no permission can be given here, I agree,” says Edtstadler “Time in the Picture 2”, says presenter Armin Wolf. Of course he wanted to know why they continued to work with such a minister who “knowingly breaks the law”? Edtstadler’s response was a repeat of the statement that Chancellor Karl Nehammer had already given last week as a reason for continuing this already failed coalition: “To avoid chaos.”

Edtstadler: “That is not right”
“There are still some important decisions to be made.” Of course, there are also important positions such as the next red-white-red EU commissioner or the governor of the National Bank – although Edtstadler denied that these personnel decisions were the real reason. “Putting forward tactical reasons is not justified here,” the minister said. Why the ÖVP will not agree to a motion of no confidence against Gewessler in parliament is a decision of the parliamentarians.

When the ÖVP minister again referred to the report of the Constitutional Service, which is located in the Federal Chancellery, Wolf reminded her that in 2019, in the dispute over the indexation of child benefits, there were also reports of the Constitutional Service that investigated the actions of the then ruling ÖVP-FPÖ government. Edtstadler saw “two different cases” here. Moreover, the Greens also launched an ‘attack’ on the Constitutional Service – which was ‘unheard of’.

Kogler: “We are not in kindergarten”
The ÖVP politician also complained about the choice of words of the government partner. Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler noted, among other things, that we were not in kindergarten. “Our government program is called ‘Responsibility for Austria’, and that is exactly what we will continue to live for,” Kogler explained a few days ago. This remains the motto of the ÖVP.
