It is the fourth smallest municipality in Upper Austria and voters are busier at the polls here than anywhere else. More than 90 percent of eligible voters in St. Pankraz turned out for the second election for the mayor’s office on Sunday. And in the end, the red votes decided in favor of a blue local leader.
After the SPÖ mayor gave up his mayoralty in St. Pankraz after only 27 months for family reasons, ‘his’ voters were decisive for Sunday’s second election.
292 voters are eligible
Although there were fewer red voters who voted for FPÖ candidate Reinhold Redtenbacher, it was enough for a 51.1 percent victory – exactly six votes more – over opposing candidate Stefan Bankler of the ÖVP. In the fourth smallest municipality in Upper Austria, 91.8 percent of the 292 voting citizens went to the polls.
