The president of Ipar Buru Batzar of the PNV, Peio Etxeleku, believes that the “rights of the Basques are in danger” if the far right comes to power. In the same way, he has pointed out that with this vote they have a “historic opportunity” to send an Abertzale to the National Assembly for the first time.

The candidates of the nationalist party of Euskal Ipar Herria in the last parliamentary elections have announced that they will vote for the candidates of the Popular Front in the second round next Sunday. The president of Ipar Buru Batzar of the PNV, Peio Etxeleku, has confirmed that he will vote for Peio Dufau (EH Bai) of the Popular Front, in the sixth constituency, on the Labour coast.

Gracianne Miranded will do the same in the fourth, which mainly includes Nafarroa Beherea and Zuberoa, and supports the socialist candidate of the Popular Front. Iñaki Etxanizand in the fifth, that of Baiona or Angelu, where Martiarena has indicated that he will support Colette Capdeviellewho participates in the Popular Front. The three candidates appeared this Wednesday to account for their decision.

This morning, the president of Ipar Buru Batzar of the PNV, Peio Etxeleku, stated in statements to Naiz He is irritated that “the rights of the Basques are in danger” at a time when the far right has many opportunities to come to power, and believes that there is a “historic opportunity” to send an Abertzale to the National Assembly for the first time.

According to Etxeleku, the rise of the right is “a consequence of the dirty work that Macron has done”, stressing that Marie Le Pen’s party is an enemy of democracy. In his opinion, “we must exclude ourselves by voting in favour of the candidates who oppose it”, that is, in favour of Colette Capdeville, Iñaki Etxaniz and Peio Dufau.

We must not forget that the new Popular Front won last Sunday in all of Ipar Euskal Herria and in its three constituencies.

Against the far right

Yesterday, the deadline for registering candidates for the second round of the French elections expired. The goal was clear: stop the far right and withdraw from the fight, so that Le Pen does not have an absolute majority next Sunday.

More than 200 candidates from various French parties have thus withdrawn their participation in the second round of the parliamentary elections next Sunday to avoid a dispersion of the votes.

In this way, they are trying to prevent Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) from gaining an absolute majority in parliament, which would lead for the first time to the formation of the Parisian government, with Jordan Bardella as the new prime minister, in a cohabitation with President Emmanuel Macron.
