80 days before the NR elections – Beer Party presents first ‘package of demands’

Date:

Eighty days before the elections for the National Council on September 29, the Beer Party gave the first insights into its program. According to party leader Dominik Wlazny, these include demands such as elections at state and local level on the same day, a ‘Ministry for the Future’ and the ‘depoliticization’ of the ORF.

On July 11, Wlazny appeared in a black T-shirt before Austrian journalists to present his Beer Party’s list of demands. These include a “Ministry for the Future,” made up of non-party experts and intended to “create new concepts and forward-looking ideas, regardless of the election date” – a major step toward the “depoliticization of politics.”

The Commission must appoint ministers
Wlazny became more specific about the long-standing requirement for female ministers to undergo an aptitude test. The future coalition partners would have to nominate three candidates, from which a commission – consisting of a representative from each parliamentary party and an equal number of experts – would choose. This “obviously” also applies to representatives from his party.

Campaign against election days
If Wlazny gets his way, there should be significantly fewer election Sundays in the future. All state and local elections should be held on the same day “so that we don’t have to campaign all the time.” He is also not in favor of early elections. The election campaign should no longer have such a strong impact on the cityscape; each party is only allowed to hang up 2,093 election posters, one for each municipality.

Wlazny wants to ‘depoliticize’ not only politics, but also the ORF. He calls for the dissolution of the political circles of friends in the administration: “When we come to parliament, we don’t want to have a say in the ORF.”

Use of human councils
Also well-known is the Beer Party’s demand for “human councils” that would advise on issues of “great importance” that would be representative of the population, such as “immigration or federalism reform.”

The domain ‘wosisdeileistung.at’ is already secured, where citizens can see exactly where their taxes are spent. After the elections, the domain will be donated to the next federal government – even if you are not represented in it yourself.

Function transferred as district councilor
Because he is currently working “intensively” on the program and “my day only has 24 hours”, Wlazny has now handed over his position as district councilor in Vienna-Simmering.
