The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegihas demanded a “deep debate” on the right to decide and the recognition of the Basque nation, using the “historical context in the Spanish state” with the Catalan question. Remember in advance that an agreement must be reached new status in the three provinces of the Basque Autonomous Community, “first of all among nationalists or among those who recognize Euskal Herria as a nation” – among the latter they have also included the confederal left. Asked whether PSE-EE could be involved in this agreement, Otegi has flatly ruled it out: “I don’t see the PSE-EE about this, but they will have to say what their alternative is.

In an interview with the Euskadi Irratia program ‘Faktoria’, the leader of the sovereign left has been very critical of the positions of the Basque socialists, whom he has accused. cheat in this matter by claiming that the problem is the right to self-determination. Does this mean that they are prepared to recognise the Basque nation? Does this mean that the Basque national team will be able to play in the next European Championship? Does this mean that social security will be a Basque responsibility or that a judge will be? Can we decide whether or not we speak Basque?” Or is that not all?”

Otegi has criticized the PSE-EE’s “reactionary positions” on several issues, including citing the speech in favor of “a partial story” in memory. He is therefore “surprised” by the fact that the PNV has left the Gogora Institute in the hands of the socialists, and has assured that “several sectors of the PNV are not very happy with this and other things.” According to him, “this city deserves a memory that tells the whole truth, and not just part of it. With a partial story, coexistence cannot be built.”

Regarding the Spanish team’s victory yesterday in the European Championship, he said that despite being a football fan, he had not watched the match because “I did not see myself represented.” As he denounced: “Basque players do not have the opportunity to play with the Basque team, because the Spanish state denies us Basques. It denies that Euskal Herria has international representation in the sport, that is, we face a ban.”

In this sense, the general coordinator of EH Bildu has indicated that Euskal Herria “is faced with a galloping process of denationalization”in response to which he believed there was a need to “open up a space for reflection”.

Finally, with regard to the meeting that the spokesman for EH Bildu in the Basque Parliament, Pello Otxandiano, has this Monday with the Lehendakari, Otegi considered that we are in “a new phase” in which an “apology for the agreement” must be made. . In this sense, he stated that the institution of EH Bildu is “absolute”. For Otegi, Imanol Pradales has “changed the music so far” and “corrected several things”. Among them, he mentioned that the new Lehendakari has realized that “things are not good in Osakidetza”, a position that he said contrasts with that of Urkullu, who spoke of “conspiracy” and blamed EH Bildu for its attempts to “undermine the Basque government”. According to Otegi, the new executive must correct “the bad management” and “neoliberal policies” of the previous PNV and PSE-EE governments.
