The meeting takes place following the commitment of Sánchez and Pradales to comply with the Gernika Statute.
The Minister of Governance, Digital Governance and Self-Government of the Basque Government, Maria Ubarretxenawill meet tomorrow afternoon, July 30, with the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory of the Government of Spain, Angel Victor Torreswho will be asked to establish “as soon as possible” the Permanent Bilateral Commission to facilitate the transfer of all matters pending the transfer of the Statute of Gernika.
At the press conference after last week’s Government Council, Ubarretxena assured that they will attend the meeting “with the utmost” willingness to dialogue, agreement and cooperation with the Minister and the Spanish Government”.
The meeting follows the commitment made last Friday between Spanish President Pedro Sánchez and Lehendakari Imanol Pradales for compliance with the legislation and the development of the self-government of Euskadi. The first item on the agenda will be precisely the promotion of the Bilateral Commission, which will allow monitoring ongoing transfers.
As planned, they will also meet with the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy.
