Most of these minors were received in France (3139), followed by Catalonia (1,796), Belgium (334), the USSR (466) and the United Kingdom (180). They also found refuge in Argentina, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Madrid, Mexico, Switzerland, Chile, Uruguay, Valencia, Cuba, Argentina and Venezuela.

The aim of the research is to identify the Civil War children born in Gipuzkoa by their first and last names and even obtain a photo and a brief history of their respective lives. In-depth interviews are also conducted among those who are still alive. So far 45 people have been interviewed.

Citizen cooperation

In recent months, service offices have been installed in Irun, Eibar, Soraluze and Tolosa, and it will be opened in Andoain in June, with the support of the Oroituz group, to gain the cooperation of the citizens. This itinerant office will also be located in the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council on June 27 and 29 and July 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Gunea.

With the preparation of the investigation, the Provincial Council also wants to organize an act of recognition and justification of the memory of these children.
