Salvador Illa will lead the first meeting of his new government today, August 13, 2024

After the inauguration of the 16 council members who form the new board, the first meeting will take place next Tuesday.

The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illacurrently leads the first meeting of his governmentfive days after his inauguration with the support of PSC, ERC and Comuns.

The meeting began at 9am with the sixteen councillors – nine women and seven men – posing for the official photo in the Gothic gallery of the Palau de la Generalitat, and half an hour later the first session began.


Catalonia

In addition to Paneque, the new government includes Albert Dalmau (Presidency); Alícia Romero (Economy and Finance); Núria Parlon (Interior and Public Safety); Ramon Espadaler (Justice and Democratic Quality); Olga Pané (Health); Esther Niubó (Education and Vocational Training); Mónica Martínez Bravo (Social Rights and Inclusion) and Miquel Sàmper (Business and Employment).

Eva Menor (Equality and Feminism) also has a portfolio; Jaume Duch (European Union and External Action); Núria Montserrat Pulido (Research and Universities); Òscar Ordeig (Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food); Berni Álvarez (Sport), Sònia Hernández (Culture) and Francesc Xavier Vila (Language Policy).

They all took their positions yesterday, Monday, in a law in which President Illa assured that “the search for the common good and the defense of Catalonia” will be the “sole criterion for action”.
