In a few weeks, the political future of the republic will be decided in its own country. 6,346,029 people will be able to cast their votes in the elections for the National Council on September 29.
Since the electoral rolls have now been completed, the Ministry of the Interior published new provisional figures on Monday on behalf of the Federal Electoral Authority.
Since the first figures on eligible voters were presented at the end of July, 2,053 people have registered. This means that there are approximately 51,000 fewer eligible voters than in the last National Council elections in 2019.
There are the fewest votes in Burgenland
Previously, citizens could view the voter rolls and request that someone be removed or included. Since then, the numbers have increased slightly in all states.
Lower Austria has more than one million eligible voters with 1,296,079, Vienna with 1,127,958 and Upper Austria with 1,097,763. There are 951,111 votes up for grabs in Styria, 539,832 in Tyrol, 432,295 in Carinthia and 391,219 in Salzburg. The fewest voters are in Vorarlberg with 276,034 and in Burgenland with 233,738. Among them are 62,651 eligible voters who live abroad.
Only minor corrections
The final number of eligible voters will be determined on September 27, two days before the elections. Until then, however, changes can only be made to a limited extent, such as corrections of computer or typing errors.
