ELA will not attend the first meeting of the health pact on Thursday

Date:

The Abertzale union confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that it will not attend the meeting, saying Osakidetza “needs urgent and structural changes rather than new tables.”

There were doubts and finally ELA confirmed this Wednesday through a statement that it will not participate in the first meeting of the health pact scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 5 September. The union believes that Osakidetza needs more than just a new table “urgent and structural changes”.

This was communicated by letter to Lehendakari Imanol Pradales. ELA believes that the new government does not intend to make fundamental changes in the health sector and added that the sectoral table “is blocked”. In this way, it has made it clear that “lack of credibility of lehendakari initiative“.

From ELA, they stressed that Osakidetza “must strengthen public health care and reduce resources for private health care,” in addition to “improving working conditions and increasing the budget.

In this way, the union has decided not to participate in the meeting of the Basque Pact for Health, promoted by the Lehendakari, because it does not see in the government a clear desire for structural changes in Osakidetza or because it has negotiated unilaterally with the medical union the new system of overtime.

On Tuesday, Basque Government spokesperson María Ubarretxena called on all officers involved to take part in the agreements made. especially for the ELA unionsince he had not yet confirmed his presence.

The trade union centre waited until the day before the first meeting, when the rest of the unions, political parties, professional associations and universities had already confirmed their attendance, to make their determination public.

The Basque Government will meet tomorrow at 11am in Bilbao, where several agents will meet at the table for the first time with the aim of reaching a health pact.
