The Jeltzale leader confirmed that the round of competitions to address the new status will begin in October. “We have to make agreements with the rest. And I don’t see much flexibility on the part of Mr Andueza,” he said.
The president of the PNV in Bizkaia, Itxaso Atutxahas confirmed that his party will begin the round in October to address the new status, an area in which it has chosen to reach “the broadest possible consensus”. In the same way, he has warned the Secretary General of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, whom he has urged “to read what the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, signs” in his treaty with the PNV, that “he has no right of veto”.
In an interview with Onda Vasca, Atutxa pointed out that the round that the president of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, plans to start with the rest of the Basque parties to discuss the possibility of moving forward in the new status “may take place from October”, as he indicated, “in a line of absolute normality.”
The president of the PNV BBB has stressed that “much parliamentary work has been done before” and that, according to her, this is “very valuable”. Regarding Andueza’s words, in which he supported “a new autonomy statute” but “not a new status”, he responded that “it will not be decided by Eneko Andueza, but by this country and the parliamentary majorities in any case. “will also ask the country to marry him”.
“Apart from what each party has, even 100% of its desideratum, we have to make agreements with the rest. And I don’t see much flexibility on Mr Andueza’s side,” said Atutxa, who however welcomed the “extensive effort last time” of the PSE-EE.
