PSOE meets Puigdemont in Switzerland to reorient relations with Junts

The meeting comes after the latest parliamentary defeat of Pedro Sánchez’s government this week, when Junts, together with PP and Vox, shot down a proposal to regulate rental contracts.

A PSOE delegation traveled to Switzerland on Friday to meet with the leaders of the Junts, with the aim of rebuilding bridges with the party led by former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont, as confirmed by EFE, citing sources familiar with the meeting.

The meeting comes after the latest parliamentary defeat of Pedro Sánchez’s government this week, when Junts, together with PP and Vox, shot down a proposal to regulate seasonal and room rental contracts.

From within the socialist ranks, accusations were made against JxCat for aligning itself with PP and Vox, to which Puigdemont responded with a message on the social network: “Blackmail does not work together.”

To restore cooperation with Junts, as requested eldiario.esa PSOE delegation led by the secretary of the organisation, Santos Cerdanlanded this Friday in Switzerland, a common place for discreet meetings between the two groups.

In the context of Investiture Pact by Pedro Sánchez last year, the PSOE and the Junts agreed to hold monthly meetings in Switzerland, with the presence of an international auditor, a role played by the Salvadoran diplomat Francisco Galindo Vélez.
