This Wednesday, the citizen network Sare presented the demonstration it organizes every year in January in the streets of Bilbao.
The Sare Citizens’ Network will demand the “definitive solution” to the Basque conflict during the demonstration on January 11 in Bilbao, under the motto “Absolutely. Peace. Resolution. Coexistence”.
During a press conference held in Bilbao on Wednesday, Sare stressed that it will continue working “resolution, coexistence and peace” until a ‘comprehensive solution to all consequences’ of violence and suffering is achieved.
In this sense, Sare believes that it is “necessary” to offer a “definitive and fair solution” to the issue of the Basque prisoners, exiles and deportees, and in turn to achieve “fair treatment” for “all the victims” of all the violence suffered.
Sare has denounced that more than six years after ETA’s disappearance, the exceptional circumstances continue and that “the rights of Basque prisoners continue to be violated” and that therefore “a definitive solution is necessary”.
On the other hand, Sare has stated that in order to achieve a “solid” coexistence, a “just solution to the problem of prisons, exiles and deportees” must be reached, and “recognize and support the victims of all the violence suffered.”
After overcoming the scenarios of violence, Sare believes that “it is also time for us to succeed in overcoming the scenarios of injustice, the result of the confrontation experienced.” “The Basque society, with generosity, honesty and responsibility, has shown in the last ten years that it is possible to live in freedom, to move forward without forgetting, but also without hating. From Sare we will continue to work to make this scenario a reality,” he added.
Finally, Sare stressed that achieving coexistence and definitive peace, based on freedom and respect for others, is an objective that must be achieved in Basque society.
