The plenary approved a transactional amendment agreed between EH Bildu and the groups supporting the Basque government (PNV and PSE-EE).
The Basque Parliament approved on Thursday an initiative agreed upon by EH Bildu, PNV and PSE-EE, which urges the Ministry of Health to revise the current model of calls for public employment offers (OPE) Osakidetza and finish the consolidation processes of the current one. The sovereigntist coalition has warned that this agreement “is not a blank check”, while PNV and PSE-EE have “welcomed” EH Bildu to the “path” of the pact. On Thursday, this issue was debated at the proposal of EH Bildu, and a transactional amendment was approved by this group and the groups supporting the Basque government (PNV and PSE-EE).
The text that has been put forward 66 votes in favor (PNV, EH Bildu and PSE-EE), seven abstentions (PP and Grupo Mixto-Sumar) and one against (Grupo Mixto-Vox), urges the Ministry of Health to “complete the consolidation processes of the current OPEs.” In addition, it asks that the “measures to improve the management and rapid resolution” of public employment offers be “deepened.”
In turn, it calls for an assessment to be carried out of the health care needs and necessary coverage that exist in each of the integrated health organizations, and for the staff of each OSI to be “organized” according to the reality of each center “in collaboration with the representative bodies” of the workers.
The Chamber also urges the Basque Government’s Ministry of Health to “adopt formulas within the sectoral table that give greater stability to staff.”
During the House debate, the parliamentarian said: EH Picture Rebeka Ubera has warned that this agreement “is not a blank check” as it is necessary for the government to respond with “facts” that “go beyond words”.
From the ranks of PNVJon Aiartza stated that the agreement reached on this initiative shows that his group, the PSE and EH Bildu can be “close” when it comes to identifying the necessary measures to improve the situation in Osakidetza. “I encourage you to continue pursuing the agreement; because in the area of health, the challenge is to reach an agreement,” he told Ubera PSE-EE Ekain Rico has stressed that the positions of the government parties regarding Osakidetza are “not so far removed” from those of EH Bildu, whom he has “welcomed” on the “path” of the agreement to improve the situation of the Basque health care system.
