The big elections: who will win, who will govern with whom?

Date:

In the “Rainer-Nowak-Talk” on krone.tv, communications consultants Heidi Glück, Sonja Kato, political professor Gerda Füricht-Fiegl and pollster Christoph Haselmayer discussed.

How will the elections go? The big question these days. Pollster Christoph Haselmayer (IFDD) says: FPÖ 27, ÖVP 25, SPÖ 21, Neos on par with the Greens with 9 percent each. Beer and KPÖ are at 3 percent. Nehammer versus Kickl is the Chancellor’s duel. “Anyone can win because of the wide variety of swings.” The FPÖ has now become a centrist party. And they catch the losers of globalization. You can score points with simple and clear messages. Corona also played into the hands of Kickl and Co.

Political scientist Gerda Füricht-Fiegl from the Eisenstadt University of Applied Sciences says that three top candidates see themselves as chancellor, and that Kickl also supports the state for his circumstances. Nehammer and Babler are also not that aggressive, although the SP leader argues vehemently in the saga.

SPÖ expert Sonja Kato sees an intensive rapprochement between the ÖvP and FPÖ in the election campaign. Overall, she says, “The nerves are on edge.”

Heidi Glück, former spokeswoman for ÖVP Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel, stated that the election campaign was quite objective. Now there is a clear duel with the FPÖ leader. “These are elections for the chancellor.” The floods have taken the FPÖ’s focus off the core issue of foreigners. “Nehammer has been in a better position in recent days.”

The ÖVP was clinically dead after Kurz’s departure, Nowak said. Now she is stronger. Glück: “It speaks for the solidity of the ÖVP. It is easy to estimate who is at the top.” Nehammer also managed to unite the party, in contrast to the SPÖ. Sonja Kato is certain: “At the end of election day, the ÖVP will be the winner. Even if she doesn’t come first.”

One thing is certain: a government without the ÖVP will probably not work. However, Kato adds that SPÖ chairman Andreas Babler, who is running a passionate election campaign and dealing with troublemakers, should also be given time. Pollster Haselmayer: “You cannot win the elections if a party appears divided to the outside world. You have to go in one direction.” Exciting question: who will rule with whom? If the ÖVP wins, black-blue is fixed, says Sonja Kato. Everyone agrees that the problem is Herbert Kickl at the top of the FPÖ. It remains exciting.
