Inner city of Vienna – homeless person has a sleeping place under the cabinet of the minister

Date:

A few meters in front of the window of Minister of Social Affairs Johannes Rauch (Greens), a homeless person has set up his night shelter under a bush.

Coincidence or symbol for growing impoverishment in Vienna? Directly in front of the Ministry of Social Affairs on the Stubenring in the 1st district, a homeless person sleeps under a bush with his worn-out sleeping bag – photographed by a passer-by on Thursday morning.

In fact, Minister of Social Affairs Johannes Rauch of the Greens could hand the involuntary open-air sleeper a sausage roll (or alternatively a vegetarian dish) almost from the window of his workplace.

Homeless also in “richer” neighborhoods
Because the ministerial offices are located on the first floor of the building. Some people may see this – with or without glee – in terms of equality. Homeless people can also be found in the “wealthier” neighborhoods and neighborhoods. They are scattered all over the city.

There are only estimates of how many people are constantly sleeping on the street. Caritas assumes 200 to 300. With seasonal fluctuations. At certain times there are probably considerably more.
