That’s why it came to an end – NEOS boss: Incendiary speech against Kickl, Kurz & Zuckerl

Date:

The NEOS blew up negotiations on the turquoise-red-pink ‘candy coalition’ on Friday. Party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger explained her reasons for her departure in the morning. Turquoise Red said ‘no’ several times to fundamental reforms.

Austria is in a real crisis and we now have to think beyond the next election day – a position that Meinl-Reinsinger has not noticed among the possible coalition partners. Ultimately, NEOS could not achieve a “breakthrough” when it came to important reform ideas. Meinl-Reisinger was literally talking about pensions and budgets and a lack of willingness to invest in the future.

Austria will have to save money, although the “dimension surprised us”, as the NEOS boss admitted. With turquoise and red, Meinl-Reisinger identified more power politics. The government negotiations will therefore not continue.

Meanwhile, there were also strong swipes at FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl, who had failed to build a foundation of trust (with potential government partners, mind you) despite a clear mandate from voters. Only the FPÖ failed here, no one else was to blame, Meinl-Reisinger emphasized.

The turquoise ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz also got his fat. The ‘whatever it costs’ system led Austria to the current crisis situation.

FPÖ currently stands at 35.5 percent
The withdrawal from the coalition negotiations comes at the worst possible time, especially for the Chancellor’s party. The ÖVP has been in decline since its election defeat at the end of September. In recent surveys, the party was only just over 20 percent.

If new elections were to take place, the FPÖ would make enormous gains. In the APA election trend, which takes into account polling from the past five weeks, the Blues were recently at 35.5 percent.
