Analysis of the Arctic – Trump poured the Prime Minister of Greenland

Date:

Surprise in the elections in Greenland! Former badminton professional Jens Nielsen (33) won 1st place with his business course. In the end, Trump and his annexation plans will probably be doomed. A “crown” analysis of the Arctic capital Nuuk.

“Greenland is from the Groenlanders!”, Prime Minister Egimede said Tuesday afternoon in the “Krone” discussion in the port of Nuuk. When the first results of remote settlements arrived at the largest Glacier island in the world in the early evening, the Prime Minister became darker and darker. He would love to have given himself on his 38th birthday, with the re -election.

Around midnight local time crystallized the enormous losses more and more. His left list Inuit Ataqatigiit lost 15 percentage points and fell to 21.4 percent of the votes. His coalition partner Siumut also had to make huge sources.

The Social -Democrats landed only 14.7 percent and were therefore almost halved. Sensation winners are the opposition conservatives (democracy) under Jens Frederik Nielsen with an approval of 30 percent. The Naleraq -Nationalists reached 24.5 percent.

How did this surprising outcome arise that almost no one had predicted? In the middle of the geopolitical struggle in Greenland, the residents voted for a change in power. Political observers in the Arctic capital agree that Egimede can become enthusiastic between Trump and domestic politics. He repeatedly stated that Denmark was completely split off.

The conservatives that are for careful nibbling from Denmark and want to strengthen Greenland economically in order to be better prepared compared to foreign interventions. The government in Copenhagen is probably right.

Analyst Kristian Mouritzen not only sees Eggere, but also Donald Trump clearly as a loser of the choice: “His campaign brought the victory to the Democrats, who are for slow independence.” So actually the opposite of what he wanted.

In the White House you can look forward to cutting Naleraq. The nationalists want the break with Denmark. In the meantime, some politicians in the list even spoke positively about Trump’s desires, although the annexation plans of more than 90 percent of the Groenlanders were clearly rejected.

The only 33-year-old Democratic boss Jens-Frederik Nielsen will now try to try the formation of the next Greenland government. The former Badminton professional announced that he would stretch his hand to all other parties-also to the Naleraq. The fact that the two election winners can also come together in a coalition is quite unlikely. The positions towards Donald Trump are too different. With his aggressive rhetoric, he did not succeed in lifting his desired candidate Pele BrobraR to the top. For much unrest in another country, however, it was enough again.
