Regular exercise can reduce the risk of dying of frequent diseases on adulthood, for example, according to a study by 30 to 40 percent. Even those who work less than their activity officially recommend a lower risk of death of 20 to 25 percent. The study was published in the magazine “British Journal of Sports Medicine”.
In particular, the researchers looked at how the risk of dying from various causes decreased through movement. The team eventually evaluated 85 studies for the meta-analysis in which physical activity was investigated on two or more times. The extent to which people moved in the respective studies divided the researchers into categories such as “Continu active” or “continuously inactive”.
It is never too late to become more active
The authors around Ruyi Yu and Gregore Mielke of the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland in the Australian Brisbane come to the conclusion that the switch to a more active lifestyle can extend the lifestyle at any time in adult life and it is never too late to start.
According to researchers, the risk of people who switched from an inactive lifestyle to regular activity fell by approximately 22 percent compared to those who remained inactive.
Adults are currently recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) the following physical activities per week:
150 to 300 minutes of medium intensity 75 to 150 minutes High intensity A combination of both
Particularly high effect against cardiovascular diseases
The positive effects of physical activity on the risk of death were therefore considerably higher in cardiovascular disease-the most common cause of death.
With regard to their results, the researchers pointed out that most used studies are based on subjective assessments of physical activity, which may not have always been correct. Nevertheless, the results are of great importance for public health.
