Griñán claims he became seriously ill to avoid going to prison

Date:

The defense of the former president of the Junta de Andalucía, sentenced to six years and one day in prison, argues that he suffers from “a very serious illness with incurable conditions”. The hearing gave him until January 1, 2023 for his voluntary entry.

The former socialist president of the Junta de Andalucía, Jose Antonio Grinanrequested the court of Seville – which gave it until 1 January for your voluntary participation in prison – that he is suspending the claim of an alleged serious illness, as Cadena Ser has put forward and his defense sources have confirmed to Europa Press.

Griñán was convicted six years and one day in prison for the ERE’s case. The first part of the hearing last week rejected the defense appeal of the former Andalusian politician to prevent him from going to jail and gave him 10 days – counting from today, Friday – to go to jail. Decision that the hearing be extended to another six convicts. The defense of the also convicted former Deputy Minister of Employment Agustín Barberá led the judges to temporarily suspend the execution of his prison sentence by using similar arguments.

That is precisely the line now being followed by the lawyers of the former socialist leader who is bothering him “a very serious disease with incurable disorders”. The judge must therefore decide whether to accept the suspension.
