There is a lot of public for the places on the SPÖ list for the 2025 state elections in the Oberwart district. With Wolfgang Werderits, the head of the Burgenland transport company is also starting an election campaign with preferential votes
After the elections for the National Council, the state elections will follow and the people in Burgenland are already positioning themselves. The elections will take place in January 2025 and the SPÖ’s route is clear: the absolute majority must be defended. The candidates for the state elections were finally announced in the Oberwart district on Wednesday evening. Wolfgang Werderits provides a personnel surprise, even though the rumor mill was already in motion.
The director of transport company Burgenland (VBB) is in tenth place on the list. While still a police officer in the traffic department, he made himself popular with Doskozil as a ‘doer’ during the refugee crisis in 2015, when he quickly organized buses to transport the refugees. In 2020, he transferred to state service.
Weerderits says he is very interested in politics. He mainly wants to focus on mobility. He believes that he has a very good chance of getting into the state parliament through preferential votes. However, the competition in the Oberwart district is enormous.
Doskozil for Schneemann and Prohaska in the Oberwart district
State Governor Hans Peter Doskozil is undisputed in first place. Behind them are State Councilor Leonhard Schneemann, Member of Parliament Doris Prohaska and Christian Drobits, who resigned his mandate at the National Council at Doskozil’s request. State MP Christian Dax only finished in sixth place, behind Olivia Kaiser, who was also involved in the election campaign of the National Council for Voting.
Wederits has already appeared on the political stage once. In 2017, he ran for the office of local mayor in his home community of Rotenturm, but lost the primaries to eventual winner Manfred Wagner.
