The PP suspends talks with the Spanish government on immigration

Date:

The meeting with the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, scheduled for this Monday, will therefore not take place.

The PP has announced that it is suspending talks with the Spanish government on immigration and that the spokesperson of the Popular Parliamentary Group, Miguel Tellado, will not meet with the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, next Monday.

According to the PP, the government of Pedro Sánchez has given up asking for help from the European Union, as requested by the party led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

Tellado informed Torres that the talks have been suspended “until the government reconsiders and seeks community support for the resolution of a conflict that is taking place not only in the Canary Islands and not only in Spain,” reported the PP, which reported the government has requested that forward the documentation and communication between Spain and the Commission and has not received a response.

For its part, the Canary PSOE this morning asked the PP “to stop obscuring politics and possible agreements on immigration matters with hoaxes” and has denied that Spain’s government is rejecting aid from Europe to the islands to manage the humanitarian crisis there.
