After a verbal attack on the street in which she was violently insulted by a passer-by for her position on the conflict in the Middle East, ex-Green Party leader Birgit Hebein speaks out on Platform X.
On Tuesday, former Green Party leader Birgit Hebein reported on the online platform X that she was insulted by a passer-by on her way home. The woman accused her: “…She will never forgive me for the murder of the children in Gaza, I and others will go to the IKG somewhere else.”
A conversation would not have been possible, but when others became aware of the shouting, she walked away. “Once there, the desperate question remained: is this the daily life of friends, Jews, who always have to be afraid? No. We can’t get used to this!” the former deputy mayor of Vienna tweeted, affirming “continue to stand up for Israel’s right to exist and defend itself and condemn the brutal attack by the terrorist organization Hamas.”
Visibly shaken, Hebein concludes, “It took conversations with friends to admit to myself that the tears after the encounter were fear.”
